About Aether Weather · Data Sources & FAQ

Aether Weather is a lightweight, uncluttered weather web app: it opens on current conditions, lets you search cities worldwide, use browser geolocation, and switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit at any time. Hourly and 10-day forecasts come from Open-Meteo.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the weather data come from?

Current conditions, hourly and 10-day forecasts come from the Open-Meteo public API. Place names are resolved with BigDataCloud, falling back to OpenStreetMap Nominatim when that fails.

Why does it need location permission?

Your coordinates are read only when you tap the location button or allow automatic locating on the first visit, and are used to look up local weather. The most recently viewed place is saved in this browser (localStorage) and can be removed by clearing site data.

How often does the data refresh?

The page silently refreshes every 30 minutes; picking a city or using your location fetches new data immediately.

Which devices are supported?

It is a responsive web app for desktop and mobile browsers that respects the system "reduce motion" preference.
